Texas started no-excuse early voting in 1987. While the first couple of years wasn't exactly what it is today, by 1991 we had pre-election day voting for elections with no reason necessary for you to go and vote. It would prevent everyone from having to stand in long lines on election day.
Voting for the City of Gonzales starts Monday April 30th - May 6th from 8 AM - 5 PM and May 7 - 8th from 7 AM - 7 PM.
For almost 3 years I've been activist on our city council. But for almost 30 years now I've voted. Even when I was in Germany I voted via absentee.
It is not only our civic right, it's our civic duty to vote!
I don't care which of the candidates you are supporting for mayor, or if you're in district 4 which candidate you're supporting, What I do care about is hearing people complain about what's going on in this community and doing NOTHING about it. Now is your no-excuse time to do SOMETHING about our city.
We ARE going to get a new mayor and district 4 IS going to get a new council member. So are YOU going to be a part of that? Or are YOU going to be someone who just whines when things aren't what you think they should be.
One thing I'll give to everyone who is running, at least they are trying to make a difference, and not just sitting on the sidelines complaining without doing anything.
God Bless,
Dennis Nesser

it seems that the inquirer has taken it on itself to publish the election results before its over .if I were Bob I would consider dropping my subscription. I hope they did this as a publicity stunt. This is really low.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why the Inquirer and the Cannon hasn't followed up on those charges that Mr. Burchard paid some fines in related to his business.
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny as can be that Mr. Burchard has paid the Inquirer about $5000 (give or take a few pennies) and their own readers are throwing him under the bus.
ReplyDeleteIs this pull the Inquirer now holds in Gonzales? Have they gone so tabloid that Mike Hanson would win? Normally someone spending 4 - 5 times what the other candidate spent would at least be 'in the ball park', but not here.
I'm thinking this a publicity stunt that's going to backfire as the Inquirer shoots themselves in the foot. This poll should of been taken 3 months ago, not DURING the election.
Again, that's just my personal opinion.

I'm not sure why the Canon hasn't picked up on the items I reported here, but the Inquirer would have used a double barrel shotgun had they reported it, and their foot would of been shot clean off. Remember, MANY advertisers pulled their ads after the daycare stories, and Mr. Burchard is a major contributor to the electric bill at the Inquirer right now.
ReplyDeleteI would love to know why the Canon didn't run with it either. But I've not seen a lot of reporting there lately either, more reporting what is simple news. Anyone remember the last real "breaking news story" they reported? And I'm not talking police chases or shootings, I'm talking about something that they went and dug up.
that is why more people are switching over. the Cannon has more class and professionalism.Really just look at how many editors they have gone through in as many years.as for the new stories, the lady reporter seemed to be one of the best in quite some time.did any thing become of the city hall shootout gang?
DeleteWell I see the Inquirer pulled the poll. Last I saw (yesterday) Bob Burchard was at 7%, Bobby Logan at 21%, and Mike Hanson was down to 63% (from an 80% high). The rest went to other or O'Neil.
ReplyDeleteWill that be an article in this weeks paper?
Remember, GO VOTE! Polls do not elect people, but getting complacent because of a poll could cost an election.
