Where's the Justice
For long enough the town of Gonzales has been waiting for justice in the theft of money from JB Wells.
It is my personal opinion that the charges are far nicer than the crime. Nope, have no proof, and no one has told me otherwise, but the numbers don't add up, even with 13 counts of theft between $1,500 to less than $20,000 that doesn't explain the losses out there for the cash based parts.
So Belinda Walker has once again gotten a postponement. She was indicted in MARCH!!! When to WE the citizens of Gonzales get OUR justice. This is the same lady that the city wouldn't give us her name for the longest time. Why? Why? Why?
Oh but wait, we're not related to .....
We can't afford.....
And we didn't support our DA in Gonzales did we? Wonder why?
Once again I suggest you call, email, or write the DA's office and tell them it's time to quit messing around and give us justice!!!
God Bless,
Dennis

The judicial system. What a joke. At least here in Gonzales. Makes you wonder why she is spending all that money on lawyers (or someone is), when it could be going to restitution of her crime.
ReplyDeleteI have seen her in various businesses in Gonzales. If it was me, I would be too embarrassed to show my face. But not her. And that is a slap in the face of our City, our Police, our judicial system, and all citizens of Gonzales and shouldn't be tolerated.
And I understand that this isn't the first time that she has been caught. The last employer was paid off and allowed her to resign.
Voters need to keep all this in mind when the judges come up for election. It's easy to blame the police department, sheriff, the DA, but the real fault lies with the judges. For whatever reason, the judges keep putting criminals back on the street. Some are beyond explaination, some are simply not qualified to be a judge.
ReplyDeleteJust remember at the next election.
Just curious as to who is her attorney.
ReplyDeleteBill - You are absolutely right! We MUST remember when elections come around who is out for our best welfare.
ReplyDeleteOur judicial system in our county (DA level) has sorely lacked over the last several years. And yet we re-elected her. Judges need to be voted on for what they've done to make our citizens safer, and those who've committed crimes accountable.
I believe Munson II is the lawyer of record. And honestly if I was in trouble I'd want the same. I'm don't blame Mr. Munson for doing his job, but it's definitely a case of who you can afford in this case.
Just curious as to why the tent for the biergarten at Come & Take It has not been put up yet. Any information on that? Is there not going to be a biergarten with any music this year?
ReplyDeleteWhen it was being put out this past weekend, when it was really windy, a gust picked it up and tore it. It was taken back for repairs and is supposed to be up today, Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteThey were working on the tent today. It's going up, there will be beer!!! :)
ReplyDeleteBack on topic, what reason is given by Belinda Walker's attorney in requesting a postponement?
ReplyDeleteHoping that the city will just drop the case?
Does anyone belive that IF, and I repeat IF, she is found guilty that the punishment will involve any restitution?
ReplyDeleteis that supposed to to be in line with [if] omama is re elected again that he won't do the same thing again ??
DeleteBill, I think that is what she thought would happen this time. One previous employer that I know of let her (or maybe her mother) make restitution for theft and then let her quit instead of filing charges.
Deletemaybe Gonzales should look into something like this:
ReplyDeleteCounty Attorney Stuart Fryer is clarifying his remarks on the proposals regarding possible changes to our District Court and District Attorney structure. Thanks to County Attorney Fryer for the clarification. See his post below.
John Stuart Fryer
Brenda, the report on the meeting--at least the part about what I said--is not accurate. We will NOT be seeking to get our own District COURT, but we will break away from the District ATTORNEY. The result will be that we will still have the same District Court and District Judges, but we will not have a DA to go with it. Accordingly, the County Attorney will assume jurisdiction over felonies for Lavaca County that the District Attorney had.
I would appreciate you changing the report to reflect that we will have felony jurisdiction in the Lavaca County Attorney's office. We will still be part of the 25th Judicial District Court, and those judges will remain our judges. They will cover Guadalupe, Gonzales, Lavaca and Colorado Counties, just like they do now.
Several years ago, the Colorado County Attorney assumed felony jurisdiction, which is why our DA only covers Guadalupe, Gonzales and Lavaca Counties, but we are all in the 25th Judicial District.
Update: It is in the works for the county attorney to handle felony cases in Gonzales. Use the same judges and what ever else, but the actual prosecution will be done by the county attorney. Now the voters of Gonzales will actually have a voice in Gonzales County criminal prosecution.
DeleteWe just need a county attorney that works. I don't know about the current one, but a previous one didn't file "hot check" charges, among other problems. And a previous one to him had other legal problems also.
DeleteBoth were "small town" county attorneys that did what they wanted, legal or not.
I was told the one we now have previously was a defense lawyer and still seems to think he still is. We have here a lose lose situation for all the hard working citizens of Gonzales.
DeleteVote him out! At least Gonzales will have the chance to change the judicial system instead of Guadalupe County telling us what we can have.
DeleteDennis,u ever thought about being a reporter? u have more intresting news than what we pay for. o' maybe u could be a prosecutor,u may not have the degree ,but u do better than the ones that have that piece of paper!!
DeleteBill you're right, we would still have the DA, but what we're wanting is for the county prosecutor to have felony convictions abilities. If I understand it correct the county prosecutor would be appointed by the governors office instead of elected. I could very well be wrong on that though.
DeletePaul Watkins has been responsive to me when I've had issues dealing with his office. Yes, he was a defense attorney, and I know that because I meet him when he was defending a scumbag. But as recent as last week his office has been responsive to taking care of the citizens of Gonzales county that I was involved in.
As for Walker, she is being dealt with from Seguin and the DAs office. If you'll remember she and I have NEVER seen eye to eye when it comes to justice in Gonzales.
Dennis. it was explained to me by John Fryer, Lavaca County attorney, that we would be completely free of the DA. She would be working only Guadalupe County. We would still have the same courts and judges, but no more Mimms. We will have to fund the county attorney more, but we will no longer fund the District attorney.
DeleteAnd as I have said, Gonzales County will have a voice in the justice system. If they don't do a good job, vote them out.
One more time Mrs. Walker has her trial postponed. Now until November 16. What a miscarriage of justice. And the district attorney and judge is allowing her to get away with this crime. Shame on them.
ReplyDeleteNov. 16th has come and gone and nothing has been said. Does anyone know whats going on?
ReplyDeleteGood question, I'm not sure, and don't see anything in either paper.
ReplyDeleteDennis
Finally going to trial! Trial? Yes, she changed her plea from "Guilty" to "Not-Guilty" and requested a trial by jury.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be on that Jury, as probably Bill Sheppard! But we know that won't happen.
