More on Justice Gonzales Style

So if you haven't read part one of this please do. http://www.90asign.com/2010/03/justice-gonzales-style.html

As promised our DA is District Attorney:

Heather Holub
113 South River, Suite 205
Seguin, Texas 78155
Phone: 830-303-1922
Fax: 830-303-2137

So Ms. Holub says, "But additionally, she said it would be hard for her office to justify pursuing a case of misdemeanors when so many cases are pending in this county." There we go again.  This isn't important enough to follow up on.  It's not a murder, so we don't need to follow through.  *SLAPPING FOREHEAD* Really? Isn't it a crime just like all other crimes? Doesn't the public trust factor weigh in on ones decision on what to prosecute? It should! We don't want murders on the street, and we don't want politicians who illegally obtained their office in positions of public trust.

And for the record we don't want elected District Attorneys that aren't looking out for the best interest of our town. I'm not sure when Ms Holub will be up for re-election, but I promise you she will not have my vote.

So as a for me, Ms. Holub will be getting a fax and a call. It's up to you what you do with the information.  I hope that Ms. Holub will know that the town of Gonzales is PISSED, and WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!

Justice Gonzales Style

So did you hear that sigh of sadness this morning as I passed by the newspaper stand to see that our DA won't look into the voter fraud case because of "Political Pressure"? POLITICAL PRESSURE?  Seriously? Our politicians are now controlling our judicial system?  We have no hope then.

Listen up Gonzales, when our DA succumbs to political pressure that means that any and every white collar crime there is can be purchased, blackmailed, or otherwise committed without any repercussions.  "But we're not talking murder here" is what I've heard.  Give me a break!!! It's bad enough I can't trust the guys and gals we ship off to Washington to do what "WE THE PEOPLE" have told them to do, because they know what's best for us, but when we can't trust the people who have to look us straight in the face then there is no hope.

So we stand at a crossroads of sorts in our little community of Gonzales.  We stand at the point that we can roll over and play dead and allow the DA to 'overlook' the fact that we've already had one person resign because of voter fraud (YES IT REALLY DID HAPPEN), and allow all the ILLEGAL (not just unpopular, but ILLEGAL) actions of those who are sitting in positions of public trust, to continue in our town, or we do something about it.

Call the DAs office.  I'll have their number posted on this webpage tomorrow sometime.  Call, let them know that if there was an illegal actions they BEST prosecute! The least they can do is bring it to a grand jury and let our legal system decide what should or should not be prosecuted.

Vote in this next election! Let those involved know WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS KIND OF CONDUCT! Let everyone know we will remove anyone and everyone involved, that INCLUDES the DA!

Ask lots of questions.  People who are conducting themselves like that in this area should be afraid of the light of day, the light of truth.  SHINE ON THEM!!!

We MUST have faith in our judicial system that they rule impartially, blindly, and fairly.  Not that they can be pressured into anything that someone wants!

Conscience or Contributions?

Is your councilman voting his conscience or his contributions?

I think this is a pretty straight up sign.  There are a handful of contributors in this town that will call several of the council if their way isn't had.  Why? Because they have paid good money and expect the votes to go their way that's why.

Large financial contributions are not necessary in local races, so why would you take the money?  No one in our town should be taking contributions of over $100 per person. This isn't a presidential race that cost millions!  This is a local race that should at tops cost a couple of thousand, and that includes filing fees, signs and advertising.  Admittedly a city wide race like mayor could cost a bit more.  But if you can't find 30 people at $100 each, then why are you even running? If you can't persuade 30 locals for just $100, how are you going to make a difference on our council?  Remember your councilmen are suppose to be persuading people to make a difference in the community, and if they can't get a handful to help them in the first place, then why are they on council?

One of the largest contributors in town has been heard as saying, "this is cheapest political council I've ever bought." Really? Dang if you're going to be bought at least make sure it's worth it! Come on Gonzales, why are we being controlled by a handful of deep pockets that have only their own best interest in mind, and not that of the community.

Watch as issues come up and you see block voting by all but 1 or 2, do you think there is a reason for that? I do! ASK YOUR COUNCILMAN STRAIGHT OUT!! Don't be bashful.  HE WORKS FOR YOU! We elect them, they are public servants and WE are the public, they serve US! They are responsible to US! They owe US an explanation for every vote they take on the council! They owe US an explanation for every action or inaction while they are serving US!

If they aren't willing to do that then they should step down or be voted out.  You are the one to make the difference. Make sure you're registered to vote now, so when elections come up you can vote.  Don't believe your vote won't make a difference, because we've seen in this town where just a couple of votes has made a difference! Don't leave it up to someone else to make up your mind.  Get educated and VOTE VOTE VOTE! (legally and only once please!)

Relay For Life

This year Relay for Life here in Gonzales is this weekend.  It starts Friday at 6 PM at the JB Wells Park.  Who among us aren't effected by cancer? My mom is a survivor.  My grandfather is fighting it right now. My mother-in-law has had cancer. Uncle Rondal is fighting cancer. Uncle Glenn passed away from cancer. Jennys' Granny died of cancer.  Cousin Debra dies of cancer. Uncle TJ died of cancer. Uncle Roy died of cancer.  That's just the family I can put my finger on right now. That's not counting the dozens of friends I have lost, or have or are fighting cancer right now.

I just heard today 1 in 8 women will be effected by breast cancer alone. 1 in 8!!! That's unbelievable!!! And that doesn't count all the other types of cancer that creep into our lives.

Be aware! Take care! Say a prayer! And in the mean time support those out front trying to make a difference in the fight against this monster.

We made the paper!

I had to laugh at the phone calls I got yesterday as the Gonzales Inquirer published this editorial cartoon.  "Fence row politics - Gonzales Style!"

See my chalkboard IS working.  Not only are people making special trips around the block to see what I've written, not only is the talk around the water cooler throughout the town about what is up on the chalk board, but now even the newspaper had to make note of it.

Remember, my stated goal from the get go was to get people of Gonzales talking about what is really happening in this town. For to long we've buried our head in the sand and listened to one side of the story.  I've always been told there are 3 sides to every story, his side, her side and the truth.  This plays in politics as well.

Yes, I have my political opinion, and they lean more conservative than liberal. But never once in my life have I pulled a political parties ticket switch, I don't believe in that.  I believe you had better know who you are voting for, what they really stand for, and who is behind them.

Unfortunately I think we, that includes myself, have allowed our elected officials to believe they are in control. That they own the school board, city, and county.  They can do anything they want and there will be no repercussions to their actions.

I can't wait to put up on the board, "Great job city council!" or "Mayor, way to go! Thanks for the 100 new jobs", "School board, A+ for the great ratings" but for that to happen we'll need some forward thinking, and less corruption in our government.

Until then, we'll keep the topics that need to be discussed in front of the citizens of Gonzales and as the primary source of 'water cooler' conversation fodder.  Though I've found out, I'm only saying what so many in this town wanted to say but were afraid of ruffling the feathers.  I've given them the opening to that conversation, "Hey did you see what's on the billboard? Yeah, the _____ is doing _____"

Keep up the all the talk Gonzales, believe it or not we ARE making a difference!

Unconstitutional

Part of the Bill of Rights, the 10th amendment, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution's principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states by the constitution of the United States are reserved to the states or the people.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

I have read and reread the constitution numerous times. My eldest took government 101 last semester and that was a topic of many after dinner discussions. Does congress have the power to bail out companies? Does the congress have the right to go to war with Iraq? Does the congress have the right to ________? You fill in your own blank.  Sometimes the answers were gray areas.  Sometimes they are black and white.
Our founding fathers knew a couple of things from history when they wrote the Constitution.  They knew it had to breath, so they gave us a way to change the law of the land if we needed too.  They built this on a capitalistic economic plan, so that those who worked would make it.  They knew that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.  They made checks and balances.

Judicial isn't suppose to make laws, only interpret them.  Congress is suppose to handle what is specifically given to them in the constitution, and forget the rest. Executive is suppose to carry out those laws.

Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, George Washington just to name a few are tossing in their graves right now knowing how we've bastardized the system they've set up.

So when are they coming after what you like? Because we've crossed that magic line of don't you dare do that. Sooner or later you won't be able to have more than 2 children, because it's bad for the economy. Or if you win the lottery it won't matter, because no one needs more than 50k a year. Your nice new car, gone, that's only for the elite of government, it's horse and buggy for you.  Go ahead and laugh.  I know these are extreme examples, but where do we draw the line in the sand? Where do we stop this madness?

I think we need to follow our forefathers and make it 10' back.  I think we need to push congress back into the box that was originally set up for them.  If they want to manage health care,  gun control, bailouts, etc then change the Constitution.  There is a written an prescribed way to do that right there, and if We the People grant them that right, then it's a totally different ballpark.

But for now the vote taken by the congress and that will be signed into law by the president is totally unconstitutional. It's government 101 for goodness sake.

Term Limits

Gonzales Citizens,
I’ve been a citizen of this town for 15 years now, and have watched as our politics in this town has gotten stale and corrupt.  I’ve seen 2 long term politicians be removed from office because of corruption of one sort of another, and with the DA’s mandating that ballots be retained as evidence in an on going investigation, I’m lead to believe there is more to come. I’ve seen senior officials believe they are above the law as they ignore our city charter, and run our budget like your and my money grows on trees.
It seems to me that they get complacent as they sit on their thrones.
I for one am tired of it, and am no longer going to hold my tongue to what I see.  I’ve put up my bulletin board on the back of my fence that has lead to many water cooler conversations over the last couple of weeks. On this weeks sign I call for term limits for our mayor and city council.
I'm not exactly sure what it will take to get those limits placed, but I know between now and the next election I plan on making that happen.
I want to see new ideas in this town to make it grow respectfully.  I want people from the outside to see us as a gem, not a crooked place.  I want some vision, and our city management has to take the blinders off.
Let's take a stand together.  If you know how to get something on the ballot here in Gonzales, PLEASE let me know. I don't mind being the point guard here, but I need a starting place. You know that mile starts with a first step type thing.

School Board - Get it right

This sign was put up on 3/12.  Our superintendent is a non-certified super.  He was though our 'coach' and the school board thought that was enough to make him the top dog. *slapping forehead*  Really GISD School Board? Do you not have a brain between the bunch of you?

We are currently looking for a new superintendent. I'm praying this time we get it right.  I hope we forget anyone with the title 'coach' and only go for those who know what a superintendent is suppose to be doing. Like getting our kids educated!!!

God Bless
Dennis
I'm the owner of the fence that 'the sign' is hanging on, and the thoughts that are (and are going to be) put up on that board.

I am tired of our mayor and our city council allowing things that are against our city charter to happen in our city.

I'm tired of the mayor 'not knowing anything' about this voter fraud, and CAN'T wait till the DA is finished this investigation and the rest of the heads roll. I am certain that there is more to this story than we've officially heard so far.

I'm tired of for years hearing how we needed to raise money to pay for new equipment, and then we don't have money for it after our property values (hence the city income) was increased substantially, even without increasing our tax rate.

I'm tired of seeing roads like Fort Wahl in shambles knowing that our city vehicles all go down that road every day. What a senseless abuse of our city vehicles.

I'm tired of the mayor not being honest with us on where our money is going, and how contracts are being handled.

So, "REALLY MAYOR??? You think we're stupid???" is a reminder to the mayor and the city council that we the citizens of this community are watching and talking about what is going on.

That there is an election coming up and I want EVERYONE in this town to remember just how we've really been represented in our council by our mayor (the leader of our city) and any of the council that are following his lead!

Most of all I want EVERYONE to VOTE VOTE VOTE (legally and only once please).

God Bless,
Dennis Nesser
